På mange nettsider kan man finne forslag på hva man kan skrive blogginnlegg om, såkalte topp fem eller ti lister. Oftest har jeg ikke noe problem med å blogge, og i perioder kan jeg blogge opptil flere ganger i uken. I kurset sosiale medier merker jeg derimot at jeg sliter litt mer. Jeg vet at jeg ikke er den eneste av oss som gjør det, så derfor skal jeg nå lage min egen topp seks liste, som kort oppsummerer hva jeg gjerne skriver om:

- Dette er vel det jeg skrev mest om før

- Enkelt, og kan vise hva som treffer godt den dagen (bruk gjerne nettsider som quotationspage.com, hvor man får opp blant annet fire dagens sitater)

3: Dele bilder, sangtekster og musikkvideoer
- Dersom jeg ikke vet helt hvordan jeg skal uttrykke meg, er det lett å bruke bilder og sanger

4: Oppdateringer fra hverdagen (skole/jobb)
- Dette er noe av det letteste å skrive om, siden det er om ditt eget liv. Her må man derimot passe seg for hva man skriver om andre mennesker, og spesielt arbeidsplassen!

5: Innsyn i ferieminner
- Mimring er gøy, spesielt når man har fine feriebilder å legge ut

6: Aktuelt
- Det er vel ikke det bloggen min er mest kjent for, men absolutt verdt å bruke tiden på

Profesjonelle idrettsutøvere i sosiale medier

Sosiale medier er et fenomen som bare vokser og vokser med dagene som går. Twitter ble opprettet i juli i 2006 og i april 2012 var det 500 milloner aktive brukere. Mange av disse er kjendiser som bruker mediet til å kommunisere med sine følgere. Profesjonelle idrettsutøvere er inget unntak. Dette blogginnlegget vil jeg bruke til å se på et par litt mindre heldige følger av bruken av Twitter for folk som er i rampelyset.

Bot på nesten en halv million
Rio Ferdinand, en av forsvarsspillerne til Manchester United, ble i juli i år bøtelagt med 420.000 kr (45.000 pund) av det engelske fotballforbundet (FA) på grunn av en kommentar om Ashley Cole. En av Ferdinands følgere kalte Cole en "choc ice" i en tweet til Rio. Han skrev tilbake at det var en klassiker og moret seg godt over meldingen. (Betegnelsen blir ofte brukt om noen som er mørk på utsiden og lys på innsiden).

FA mente kommentaren "choc ice" var rasistisk ladet, og ettersom rasisme i fotball er veldig utbredt om dagen, valgte de å slå hardt ned på spilleren for å støtte denne uttalelsen. Ferdinand selv skrev dagen etter hendelsen at det ikke var rasistisk ment fra hans side, men at det er slang for folk som er falske, og at det er hans rett å le av kommentarer på Twitter om han ønsker det. Sendt hjem fra OL

Under årets OL ble hvert fall to idrettsutøvere sendt hjem for sine kommentarer på Twitter. Først ut var greske Voula Papachristou for å spøke om afrikanere. Den olympiske komiteen hadde ikke noe annet valg enn å holde henne utenfor det greske laget på grunn av uttalelser som går imot verdiene og ideene til de olympiske lekene. Dagen etter hendelsen skrev hun en unnskyldning hvor hun blant annet sa hun angret på det hun hadde skrevet og at hun ikke tror på diskriminering. 

Voula Papachristou ble holdt hjemme

Deretter fulgte den sveitsiske fotballspilleren Michel Morganella som ble suspendert for å kalle sør-koreanerne for "a bunch of mentally handicapped retards". Denne uttalelsen kom etter han hadde en dårlig kamp mot nettopp Sør-Korea, hvor han blant annet ble buet på av tilskuerne. Han sendte som Papachristou også ut en unnskyldning senere, men han stengte til og med kontoen sin.

Etikk vs talefrihet 

Man kan påstå at alle har rett til sine meninger, og det er også sant, men profesjonelle idrettsutøvere skal være forbilder. Tenk bare på hvor mange av de yngre som skulle ønske de var som de i rampelyset. Rasisme er rasisme og idrettsutøvere kan ikke slippe unna alt som blir sagt og gjort av de kun fordi de er de de er. Om overtredelser skjer er det viktig at det blir slått hardt ned på av organer som kan gjøre dette. Kommentarer på Twitter blir aldri borte. Idrettsutøverne kan slette de, men sannsynligheten for at følgere retweeter, favorittiserer og tar bilde av tweeten er stor. På denne måten kan ord leve evig og de som er i rampelyset har et ekstra stort ansvar for å være påpasselige om hva som blir lagt ut. 

Hva mener dere? Føler dere at de som er i rampelyset har et større ansvar enn andre, eller er det likt for alle?

Birthday weekend : )

This weekend was spent on the mountains in my parents cabin. It was our annual girls weekend and the following were in attendance: me, my mom, my sister, my aunt, my grandmother and two of my grandmothers sisters (i.e. my mother and aunts aunts. Got that? :p )

It has been, and was this weekend as well, rather loud. We eat a lot, talk a lot and laugh A LOT! We also walked in the mountains on Saturday and spent some money in the "city-center". That's something we're good at ; ) Saturday night was spent celebrating my birthday and eating cake and snacks. Also something we're good at :p

Had a great weekend, and now it's back to business at school and work. Got a lot happening this week, so it will probably fly by just like the last few weeks have.

Good initiative

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) has once again put some of the flight-decisions to a vote. They are, for the second year running, leaving it to their costumers to choose what their next summer destination is going to be.  (From Norway, that is).

I think this is a good initiative to make costumers feel like they have a say and a kind of ownership in the company.Top three is so far Lisbon in Portugal, Cagliari in Sardinia and Chania in France.

If you're interested in having a say, like their Facebook page and vote. This summer the winner was Alanya in Turkey, and it got so popular, that it's still running.

Who knows where the "Summer-flight of 2013" will go.

My first lecture in Social Media

Even if the lectures started three weeks ago, I haven't been able to go due to work. So I'm glad to say I've finally been in class today.

The topic today was blogging, and it got me thinking that I need to step up my game. True enough, I blog mostly for my own benefit and interest, but it is fun to see that people read it.

I tried once before, but I'm gonna give it another go. If anyone has suggestions for me about what to write about, just comment and I'll take it into consideration and promise to do my best : )

I think Social Media is fun and reading our curriculum, a book called Groundswell, really gets you thinking it's more to it than just to write something. It's easy on a personal level, cos you don't really have to think too much about it. Celebrities however, need to watch what they say and do. I don't know how many people have been talked about in a negative way, due to something they wrote. Some have even been sued.

Many businesses know that they have to be online, but they don't know how. It's important to do it the right way, otherwise it can bite you later on, sometimes sooner rather than later.

For everyone who are interested in social media, I can recommend Groundswell by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff. I haven't finished reading it yet, (I mean, come on, I'm still only a student. Can't expect me to finish the curriculum already ; ) ) but so far I like it and it's easy to read.

Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath

Sorry for going all AWOL on you guys. Not much happening at the moment. Work, get home, eat, watch some handball and sleep. That's pretty much all that's going on right now.

I did, however, go to Ullevaal in Oslo yesterday, to see Vålerenga - Manchester United. And even if it ended 0-0, it was really fun to see my boys in action :D Loved every minute of it! Will be quite the game on Wednesday, by the way. United - Barcelona! Wish I could have been there : )

It's almost time to get back to school again, and I think it's going to be a tough year with lots to do. The year will be over and done in no time.

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?

Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, were you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.

Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class was in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?

(The class broke out into laughter. )

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.

Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.

MPI Board Retreat

In the middle of March I became a board member of MPI Norway Chapter. MPI stands for Meeting Professionals International and is a global association for meeting and event professionals. I'm a part of the Student Affairs Committee, and that means that I'm going to recruit students and get them to join MPI as members.

This weekend we were away on a board retreat to air out ideas, set some goals, plan the next 12 months and get to know each other as a newly put together board, seeing as we are six students all together who have now become board members. It was a great weekend with lots of fun, inspiration, motivation and an all together great experience.

We went to a place far far into the woods, or as we liked to call it, in the middle of nowhere. But it was a beautiful place, they served good food, had great facilities and we all really enjoyed ourselves. At least I did. Guess I can only really speak for myself ;)

I can't wait to get these next 12 months started!
