Christmas holiday : D

Finally!! It's here! I've now got almost three full weeks off from school, and I'm going to take full advantage of it : ) It starts tomorrow by going to Prague to see Karolina : D I'll stay there till Wednesday and the plan is to see Prague, Vienna and Brno, close to where she lives. I can't wait to see her again. Really hope the weather will behave and let's my flight fly ; )

Me and my girl : )

When I get back, I'm going to Oslo Gospel Choir Christmas concert, before I go back home on Thursday. Then it's Christmas celebration at my grandmothers house on Friday and the mountains on Saturday, where my sister, brother-in-law and two nephews will be as well : ) It's going to be great : )

great......

Just got back from my doctor's office (I have of course gone home to be with my parents), and I was right: I have a minor ear infection, so I'm getting ready for a month with less than great hearing and probably a crappy flight on Sunday. Luckily, it's not nasty like the one I had in Brighton last winter. At that time I didn't have an exam at the same time though, so that's the challenge this time around. But I'm not going to let my ear ruin everything for me. I'm still going to study as well as I can, and I am going to pass my exam on Friday!! There's no way I'm going to do it all over again next semester!! Wish me luck!

Sick again...

Seriously, this sucks! I'm supposed to be studying real hard for my Finance exam, instead I've got a sore throat, runny nose and a headache is starting to appear. What's the point???

On an other note, I had a great time at my sisters house. Played with my nephews and relaxed. Probably why I'm getting sick now. After a lot of stress, I relax and then it comes popping up. Usually how it works...

The oldest of my beautiful nephews : )

Me and my sister's second-born : )

Tonight though, it's going to be the battle of the season. Manchester v Arsenal. Me v Robin. I was supposed to go to Gothenburg to see it, but unfortunately it didn't work out that way. Maybe that's a good thing though, cuz he's a bad loser and I think he's getting sick of losing against me :p Good luck, babe! Mentally, I'll be in Gothenburg with you.
xoxo

The two of us last season (one more nervous than the other). Let's see how it goes this time ; )

fredag 10. desember 2010

Woops...

All non-football supporters don't have to care about this little correction ;)

Minor mistake on my part... The draw of Champions League is next Friday, not today. That actually means that I won't be able to follow it, because I'll be in the middle of my exam. Talk about unfair :p Don't really understand how I missed the date of the draw though...? Think maybe my brain isn't functioning as it should anymore. Too many exams ;p

If my sister is reading this anyway (even if she doesn't care about football anymore), I can't wait to see you :D Looking forward to a weekend with you :)

I'm bored.............

So, it's Thursday night. I got my Finance exam next week, and I'm going to try my very best to pass it, but the motivation isn't exactly there (to say the least). This is the second night this week that I'm really bored (and I do mean REALLY bored) and don't want to do anything. Think it's a good thing I'm going to my sister tomorrow. Be good to get away from it all, be with my nephews and try to get some perspective and motivation again.

On an other note though, Champions League : ) United are through to the knock-out stages and can, as a top seed, be drawn against second place Inter, Roma and AC Milan from Italy, Lyon and Marseille from France, and Copenhagen. Arsenal won yesterday, but their options from a second-place point of view are Schalke 04 and Bayern Munich from Germany, and Barcelona and Real Madrid from Spain. Personally, I'm hoping for Copenhagen for United and Schalke for Arsenal. The knock-out games are usually pretty though anyway, so we'll just have to wait and see tomorrow (kinda sucks that I can't choose myself. Would be so much less nerve-wreaking). And believe you me, I will be following the draw no matter what. Finance will just have to come second! (Nice to see I've got my prioritize in order during this exam-filled period :p )

FINALLY!!!

I am truly happy to say that we have finally finished and handed in our Marketing exam! :D It's been hanging over me like a big black cloud, but now there's no more to be done! It's not in my hands anymore and I've got no power over it. It feels GREAT :D

The rest of the day will be spent by cleaning the apartment (which is needed), relaxing and preparing for my co-worker talk (or something (medarbeidersamtale)) tomorrow, before I start studying for the Finance exam tomorrow morning. Who said being a student isn't fun? ;p Hehe

2 down, 2 to go

I cannot begin to describe how good it feels to be done with two of my exams! I just got back from my Tourism exam, and I'm happy to say I think it went well :) Wrote ten and a half pages about tourism and culture and tourism and crime. Those were the main topics, and then there were some questions within that, some big and some small ;)

Tomorrow it's back to the Marketing plan, so tonight I'm taking (in my opinion) a well deserved break! I'm gonna make myself a cup of hot chocolate, see if I have some snacks and watch Bridget Jones's Diary :D I've been wanting to see that for a couple of weeks now, but tonight I'm actually going to do it ;)

Hope you all have an amazing night!
xoxo

What a feeling : )

I'm done with my first exam, and let me tell you, it feels goooood :) Wrote seven pages (about the problem of self-interest (egeninteressens problem). Don't know how to say it in a better way in English) in less than two hours and was out of there at 11, with a small smile on my face. Went to Platekompaniet to buy One Tree Hill season 5 (one of the best shows in the world) and they finally had it! Tried twice last week and had no luck. Today though... Bingo! :D

I'm still on a high from the game yesterday, that was truly one of the best in history, and I am now very ready to see Carling Cup football tonight :) Times two ;) BUT, that's after studying for my Tourism exam though. Gotta prepare for that these next two days, since we've got that for three hours on Thursday. Wish me good luck with studying, cuz I'm getting really sick of it :p
xoxo

My first exam!

I am getting kinda nervous right now, because I'm getting ready to go to my first exam at BI. It's about the company, and I'm not ready for it. I've been studying for days now, but can't seem to get a hold of it all. At 9 am we'll get the tasks and then it's on. From here on there's nothing more I can do, but to wish myself good luck :p I am really excited about being done with it though, and when I get back home afterwards, I have to start studying for my Tourism exam. That's on Thursday.

Oh, by the way :) Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid yesterday! That was at least a reason to go to bed with a smile on my face ;) Feel a bit bad for Casillas though... Not his fault the defenders and midfielders can keep the ball away...

onsdag 17. november 2010

My first A at BI :D

Whohoo! Yesterday I got my first grade, and I'm very pleased to say it was an A! :D I didn't really believe it was true until today, and the reason for that was that I didn't feel too good about the project. Didn't feel like an A paper. But apparently someone disagreed with me on that, and who am I to argue? ;) Hehe...
The project was 40 % of our Tourism grade, so it feels really good. It was about the Tourism system and product, and the effects tourism has on the environment, both good and bad.
Now I have seen the first half of England-France (0-1 at half-time) and am going to see Portugal-Spain in one minute, so I gotta go ;)

tirsdag 16. november 2010

I'm still alive :p

Thought it was about time to update my blog after many, many weeks (months I guess). It probably has something to do with the fact that I'm stuck in my marketing plan... I really hate it! I try to stay positive, but it's very hard when you don't know what to do and how to do the few things you do know! (If that made any sence?)

BI is a good school, but it's very hard, so all though I'm happy about studying there, there are days when I don't know why I bother. It's a lot of reading, and our exams are coming up way too fast! Kinda feels like I'm drowning in everything that's happening and needs to be done...

Besides school, I also got a job as Meeting & Events hostess at Radisson Blu close to when I live, so I also spend some time there :p I was there today and I'm also working tomorrow and next Tuesday. Tomorrow I'm going to be working alone most of the day, if not the whole day, because there's only two of us. It will be my first day all alone :s Gonna be very nervous.
The job itself is fun, but very stressful at times. Well, most of the time actually. But it gives me a break from school and a good work-out ;) (Always look on the bright side of life..... :D )

I'm gonna try to update more on a regular basis from now on. I don't know how many people actually read my blog, but my dad has at least wanted me to update it again, so this one's for you, Dad! Have a great time in Lisbon! (You're sooo lucky!)

Long time, no see

It's been a long time since I've updated my blog, but I guess that can happen when summer comes. Since last time I've seen the World Cup, been to see my sister and her family and now I'm working. Next week will be my last, and that's very strange. I love my job even on a day like this, when there has been a lot of stress and no lunchbreak. (Just for the record; I work with elders at a day "centre".) Something that's even bigger will happen next week as well, and that is that my brother and I can move in to our new flat. It needs to be painted and stuff, but we get it on Monday, so we'll at least have it :)
I got to go now, cuz I'm going to see Vålerenga take on Barcelona in a friendly game. Even if all the Spanish World Cup Champions ( :D ) are still on holiday, it will hopefully be a good game :)

Happy birthday, Felicia!! (And a small update)

In this very second, I am watching the forth game of the World Cup (Argentina v Nigeria), and thought I'd might as well say a little bit a bout what has happened since I got back from England, and also wish a wonderful person happy birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LINH FELICIA :D I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!! Have a great time in Vietnam, honey :)

Now for the update...

I came home on Saturday and left for Vaksdal (Western Norway, "almost" Bergen) on Monday, to see my sister, two nephews and brother-in-law. I stayed there until Saturday and I have to say I fell in love with Jakob, the newest addition to our family (meaning my new nephew). He is really adorable and reminds me of Sondre (his big brother). They are quite similar in their appearence.

While I was in Vaksdal, my mother had her birthday, so on Sunday we celebrated by having a wonderful BBQ. The past week has been spent with my grandparents and aunt and cousin, going into Oslo to meet some friends and shopping, and on Thursday, me and my father went to look at some flats. We went to three and liked one, thought one was okey and disliked one. My mom and dad is in Stavanger now, but when they get back tomorrow, they're going straight into Oslo too look at another one, which my dad and I think is perfect. But we'll see how it goes.

The next few weeks will be spent by watching the World Cup (Go Spain!/Viva España!), spending time with my family and meeting friends. The World Cup final is the 11 July and I don't start working until Monday 12! Talk about luck :D Me like... Hehe

Home, sweet home

So, after nine months in England, I'm back in Norway, probably for good (although, who knows?). It's good to be home, but I think I'll wake up tomorrow morning and be really confused.

Everything went well with my journey. Gerry drove me to Gatwick, my bags were 18 and 20 kg, so no problems there, we landed 15 minutes early and I got all of my stuff home.

I think everyone have had the same feelings; looking forward to go home to our families and friends, but hated having to say goodbye yesterday. It really was no fun! I don't think Jule was far off when she wrote on Facebook that we flooded Starbucks. There were aloooot of tears!

I got a text from Desirée at 6am, wishing me to have a safe flight. That was really sweet :) I love that girl. Gonna miss everyone so much!

Goodbye England and thanks for everything!

Testresults and goodbyes...

So, I went to school earlier today to get my testresults, and it went really well. I got 48 of 50 correct, so me and an other girl were the best of everyone leaving (approx. 60 students or so). It was fun, and both Rosie and Mark were really "proud" of me. (Of course, now, I'm really curious about what I got wrong, but whatever.)

After school, we went to have our last cup of coffee together, and it was fun until we were thinking about leaving. Then the fun stopped, and the tears started. I managed to keep myself together for a while, but it got too hard, so I started to cry as well. When I left Starbucks, I went by to say goodbye to my co-workers at the tourist information, and I was really happy to see Karen, Katarina and Paula, cuz they were my favorite people to work with :) The day was always so much easier and quicker when they were around.

I still don't really understand that I'm going home tomorrow and not coming back. It's just too surreal. I bet it will hit me when I'm all alone at the airport tomorrow...

The days are coming to an end...

As I wrote on Wednesday, we went to Day's that night, and here are some pictures from that:

Where are the boys?? (Answer: late as always)

When we leave EF, we have to do a test to see what level we are. We took that test yesterday and I have no idea how it went, but honestly, I don't think I care. In my opinion, the IELTS test counts for so much more. After the test, our class had a quiz, where Christy and I were in the lead for the first three rounds, but lost because of the last round. That really sucked! But both Christy and I, and Desirée and Tomomi, were only two. The two other groups were three :p

Last night, we went up to Andreas flat for the last time. It was really fun and hopefully someone will upload some pictures that I can "borrow", cuz again, I didn't bring my camera... It's sooooooooo strange to think that in exactly 24 hours , I'm on the plane. I can't believe it's been nine months already.

Today, we're going in to school to get our test results, before we're going to Starbucks for the last time. Uff, everything is for the last time now... Not good. It is not going to be fun saying goodbye to everyone. I'm really dreading it!

Since Sunday...

On Sunday we went to the beach, and after a couple hours I figured it was a good idea to go home, cuz I felt a little "flushed" in my face. When I got on the bus my arms started to sting, and I realised that sunscreen had not been a bad way to go. Typical me, I didn't think of it before I went to the beach, so as the day went on I got more and more red. I can finally say that my arms are pretty much back to normal today. At least they don't burn anymore ;) On Sunday night we had a BBQ at the flat and it was with the family and extras. The extras were, of course, Ash and Kevin. When there's good food, they usually surface at some point ;)

Gerry and Daniel

Daniel, Ash (my "ex-husband"), David, Kevin and Ben

Since I was so burnt, I decided to stay in on Monday, until I went to the cinema with Karolina in the evening. We went to see Streetdance 3D and we absolutely LOVED it!! I think we had smiles on our faces during 95% of the film and our feet were rarely still. I recommend it to people who like dancemovies! I really love them and I'm sooo looking forward to seeing Step Up 3D later this summer! :D
Yesterday was spent at school with our class. We had a "pot-luck" lunch, with means that we all brought something to eat and everyone tasted everything. When we were done with eating, we went to the beach for about an hour or so. At night, pretty much everyone went to King & Queen for the last time :( It's really weird knowing we won't go back there anymore. Tonight we'll have our last dinner at Day's. Also very sad : But the good thing is; in less then a week, I'm with my nephews :D

Stina, Maria, me and Karolina =)

Pot-luck lunch, where Mark got a thank-you-cookie from us who are leaving

IELTS results

This morning, I got my IELTS result (the exam I did two weeks ago) and I am very happy to say that I got 8.5 as an overall score! :D (Highest mark is 9). I got 7.5 on writing, 8.5 on speaking and listening and 9 on reading (which means I got every answer right). It's safe to say I'm very happy about that :)

Today it is only one week until I go home. In one week from now, I'm back in Norway, hopefully attending a BBQ at my grandparents house ;)

Picture update

Instead of editing the previous post, I will just have one here with a lot of pictures from yesterday. But first a little story of today's happenings.

Karolína, Desirée, Felicia and I met at Old Steine to have a milkshake date. We've been to ShakeAway a few times now, and this is why:

There are so many flavours, so it's really hard to choose. We sat down in the park to enjoy them, but then we got wet on our behinds, so we decided to go to Old Steine park to try to get a bench. After about 5 minutes, we regretted doing that, because behind us (LUCKILY) there was a girl giving a guy a very good time, if you know what I mean. I'm not going to put out a picture of it (Felicia took it as proof), cuz I'm having a hard time getting it out of my brain. Don't want to cause you any trauma. The worst thing about it was that there were a lot of children around. After about 15-20(!) minutes, we started to feel reaaly uncomfortable, so we left. When Desirée took the bus past the park 10 minutes later she saw the girl talking to a police officer and it seemed like she got a ticket. Haha! Serves you right!

Me and Felicia enjoying our milkshakes :)

The fountain in Old Steine park

Now to more trivial things :) Pictures from our graduation yesterday :)

Ready to graduate!

GRADUATED!! =D

MEHT Class of 2010 =)

Me and my girl Karo =) Gonna miss her sooo much!!

Desirée, Melanie, Raquel, me and Yamila (and the sun :D )

Stina, me and Desirée

Mark lasted for 10 seconds or something

Robin and Mark battle

Me and Karo

Eva, Robin and me

Mar, Stina, Eva, me and Karolina =)

Andrea, Karolína, Adam (activities office) and Robin

I'm really going to miss Robin! (Despite the fact that he's an Arsenal supporter)

Update and graduation!!

Yesterday we finally graduated! :) After nine months we are now at the finish line, and it is a very strange feeling. It is reaaly hitting all of us now, that we're leaving in 8 days and it makes us all a bit sad. Not just a bit either. Pretty much full-on! However, we are all looking forward to seeing our families and friends, so I think it's better to think about that now.
Part of the graduating classes

We had our graduation at Babylon Lounge (the club where EF students get in for free every Thursday). There were some stands from various countries we could look at, we could ride the bull, do some sumo-wrestling and two other things I don't know how to explain, so hopefully someone took pictures of it so I can copy :p

My favorite teacher, Gerry, as a child (the teacher's stand)

Christy (classmate) and me

At five, the BBQ started (although we stood in line for 40-50 minutes, cuz people don't know how to cue!!) and when we were done eating, we went home to relax a bit and change before going back to Babylon at 11 to have our final Babylon party. It was actually a good Babylon night and I have to admit that something that made it even better, was that my first teacher at EF, James, came out of nowhere! He was my teacher for the first two weeks here, but then he moved to EF London. I had given up on him coming back to visit, and then all of the sudden he was there :) It was really nice, although he was a bit drunk. But that's life :p

Karolina and I left when her headache got worse and things were still fun, so I got back home around two. It was really good to go to bed after a long, but very good graduation :D

Since I have been very bad at taking pictures, I decided to "borrow" some from Felicia. (I will add more pictures once I get them ;) )

Felicia and me "celebrating" 17th May

tirsdag 18. mai 2010

Oops...

Okey, so I just found out that I really suck at history! (And I got a 5/B on my history exam.. Sorry, Gjerde! (My history teacher)...) So to clear up (like Elise did with me): we got our constitution 17th May, but weren't directly freed. Just a little bit free, and it was from Denmark, not Sweden. But we got our own law, so maybe that's what we're celebrating? Elise? What do you have to say? Maybe you should write my blog... Makes it a whole lot easier :p Or maybe I should stick to writing about things I know ;) Not a bad idea that either...

mandag 17. mai 2010

Happy Constitution Day, Norway :D

17 th May 1814: Norway were finally free from Swedens reign. We were now an independent nation and it is not fun to be in England today. Last year I was actually in France, so I haven't been celebrating 17 May since I was russ (senior) two years ago.

Me and Felicia decided to wear red, white and blue today to show our love for our country. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera with me today, but I will post a picture of the flag instead. Better than nothing, right?

I wish I was back in Norway today, to see either my two nephews or my cousin, celebrate. However, I can now say "I'm going home next week". NEXT WEEK! It's crazy! It feels very surreal, but I am looking forward to it :) And in two weeks I will also see my nephew for the first time. Exiting :D

tirsdag 11. mai 2010

What a day!

Got to the lecture at school at 10.20 this morning, only to be told that we didn't need to be there (not everyone of course, but people in my class). We don't need to be there next week either, because both lectures have the same topic (bookreports and portfolio) and it's not relevant to us, because we're leaving soon :) So, we sat in the cafeteria and went to Lidl. Very useful morning. When we got to our normal lessons we found out that our last day in school is technically next Wednesday. This is because we have our seremony, where we get our certificates with attendence, on Thursday. When we have gotten that there's no reason for us to be in school, cuz we won't be marked absent anyway :) Mark understands this and has therefore decided that from Tuesday next week until Friday 28th (our actual last day) we'll just be doing fun (or fun-ish) activities. My friends and I are very happy about this, cuz it means we only have six(-ish) days left in school ;D
When I got home my mom called to say that I had gotten the answer to my BI (a school in Norway) application. I have applied to Reiselivsledelse, which in English is something like Tourism-managment. When she opened it she was happy to tell me that I got in :D This means three more years in school and I'm moving to Oslo (with my brother). When I wrote that on Facebook, my bestfriend asked me if I was joking, cuz if I was, it would have been extremely mean. Hehe... Typical Marte... :p

IELTS

On Saturday, me and three of my friends are taking an IELTS exam. IELTS is short for International English Language Testing System, so in other words: we are going to take a test to see how our English level is. The test consists of four parts; reading, writing, listening and speaking and you are graded for each part. Then the four results are put together and you get one grade on a scale from 1 to 9, 9 being the highest.

To prepare for the exam, David, our former IELTS teacher, put together a mock exam for us. We did the reading and writing parts yesterday, and the listening and speaking parts today. The reading did not go so well. I got 6.5 and I'm not too happy about that. We haven't got out writing tasks back yet, so I don't know how that went, but probably somewhere around the same area. Today was a little bit better. I got 8.5 on the listening (39 correct of 40) and Rosie gave me an 7/7.5 on the speaking. If I get a combined result of 7.5 I will be pretty happy. My problem is that I'm not formal enough. I don't have a complex vocabulary when it comes to tests. I usually know a lot of high level vocabulary, but when I'm doing a test I normally go for the easy version. (Det enkleste er ofte the beste, as the ad says).

All I know is that I am going to be very happy when I'm finished with this test.

Finally!

A couple of hours after I wrote about Portsmouth, I got the text I had been waiting for the entire day: my nephew and godson, Jakob, had finally arrived! My dad sent me a picture, and he looks absolutely beautiful! Everything is well with both him and my sister and I am really looking forward to seeing all of them, but especially him, in four weeks time :)

Portsmouth & hospital

Strange headline, I know, but nothing to worry about regarding the hospital part (as far as I know, at least). This morning I went to Portsmouth with seven of my friends. While we were on the train towards Portmouth I got a text from my mom, saying that my sister was on her way to the hospital. She is pregnant and her water broke this morning, so she may give birth today :) She has gone 8 days over her due-date, and she is very ready to get him out, so hopefully I'll get a text during the evening, saying I'm an aunt again, but this time, also a godmother :) It is, however, a little bit scary, because it means that I have much more responsibility this time. But I wouldn't have said yes if I didn't think I could handle it, so bring it on! ;)

The reason for the trip to Portsmouth was shopping, which is why it is hilarious that only £15 is "missing" from my wallet :p I don't think I've ever gone shopping without actually buying something (except something to eat and drink). We went to two shopping centres and Victoria Park. There was a playground there, so we went there twice :) First time we were there, we played (Robin and Karolina got hurt), second time we just sat there, because there were a lot of kids playing. I didn't take any pictures, but I'm going to get Melanie's, so I'll put them in here when I get them.

Weekend update

The internet at my hostfamily is bonkers, so I haven't been able to be online since Friday morning. When I opened my mail this morning I had 34, so I am really looking forward to we get the internet back. But anyway. That's not what this is about.

On Saturday Desirée and I went to London to have a sightseeing day :) For once we went by bus, so it was an early morning to say it like that. We met up at 7.50 and off we went. In a nutshell, what we did was: we went up in London Eye and the weather was pretty good, so that was good timing. After that we went by bus to Tower and changed bus to go to Trafalgar Square. From there we went to Chinatown to have lunch. It was the first time we sat outside this year, and it felt very good :)
London Eye and Big Ben

Lunch in Chinatown

After Chinatown we walked to Piccadilly Circus to catch the bus to Harrods. It was Desirée's first time and she did not get disappointed. I love Harrods, but unfortunately it's not a place where you go on a shopping-spree. Way to expensive! Since it was such a beautiful weather, we went to look at some "art"/pictures on the sidewalk by Green Park. On days such as Saturday it's no wonder why London is my favorite city and why I never get tired of it :D

Always knew Chelsea would mean the end of the world

We ended our day at Victoria Coach Station with a milkshake and tired eyes, but it was a great day and I for one am very happy that we went :)

Milkshake from McDonalds :)

38 days

Only one thing to say right now... I want to be at home. I want to be there for the birth of my nephew. I want to see the last Champions League games with my aunt and grandmother. I want to meet my bestfriend's guy. I want to speak Norwegian. (Don't get me wrong. I'm still happy here and having a good time, but I am looking forward to coming back home).

By the way. I've just been to the cinema with Desiree and Melanie. We saw "Dear John" (based on the book by Nicolas Sparks). I love his books and the movies made from them. "Dear John" is worth seeing :)

17.04.1989

Desirée turned 21 yesterday, so to celebrate her birth, 12 of us went out. We started with dinner at a Chinese restaurant. When we were finished with dinner and opening presents (I got her a Rooney shirt ;) ) we went to a pub in the Lanes. We were there for an hour or something before we went our separate ways. The boys and I went to the bus and went home (I'm not a nightclub person) and the girl were supposed to go to a club. When I talked to Desirée today, she said they didn't go after all, because it was too expensive. I think it's a higher price on Fridays and Saturdays. I think everyone had a good night and I think it's nice to go out to dinner once in a while, and not just a pub. Once again happy birthday, Dessie :)

Scholes < 3

Manchester United met Manchester City today. It's probably the biggest game of the season, and after 93 terribly nerv-wracking minutes Paul Scholes headed the ball in the net! It was long over due and in my opinion, very deserved ;) We're now only one point behind Chelsea, who meet Tottenham in their own derby. Go Tottenham!

Crappy, crappy week!!

This has not been my favorite week, by far! It started on Monday with me not wanting to go to school, but I went (I'm kinda proud of that one). On Tuesday I got sick and was in no condition to go to school, so I stayed at home. I was also told that my grandmother wouldn't come this weekend because of her fear of flying. Yesterday I was supposed to meet up with Desirée for coffee, but I had such a headache after being at school, so I went home instead. Today I woke up to the news that the volcano on Iceland would ground all planes for the time being, which means my parents and grandfather won't be able to come here tomorrow at all! All flights are cancelled both in and out of the UK and Norway. All the airports are also closed for now, so after speaking to my dad this afternoon, I just have to except that they will not come this weekend :( My fear is that they won't come at all now, which really blows!

There's a saying that goes like this: Every cloud has its silver lining. Even this crappy situation has a couple of positives. One: Because I've been in such a foul mood tonight, Fiona came to my room with a chocolat bar for me (not so positive in counting calories, but I don't care today). Two: I can go to Desirées birthday dinner on Saturday, so she will get her wish. She pretty much wanted to kill me when I told her I couldn't come, so hopefully that will make her happy.

London

I'm not at school today, cuz I'm in bed with sneezing, a sore throat, headache, no energy and I think a slight fever. Not feeling too good, so decided to stay home, so hopefully I'll get better for this weekend. My parents and grandfather is coming! Finally! :D My grandmother was also supposed to come, but because of the stupid fear of flying, she can't make it after all, which I to some extent understand, but it still sucks. Really wanted her to come.

On Sunday I went to London to meet my brother and two of his friends. It was nice to see him again and to put faces to the names. They were both very "strange" or "interesting" guys, to say it like that, but it was a lot of fun :) We walked around, saw the Manchester game at a pub (which didn't go as we had hoped), went to their hostel and had dinner at an Indian restaurant. I left around 5.30 because Sunday is a bad day to travel. Construction work, so it takes about two hours to get from Victoria to Brighton (train and bus). Not fun.

Girlsnight at King & Queen :)

Last night we went to King & Queen to have an all-girls night. It was really fun and at one point we were 13 people. I say people and not girls bacause Jule's boyfriend is visiting, so we had to meet him. But they came late and he was the only boy. For one night his name was Tina, not Timm ;) But we had a lot of fun and (sorry Robin and Andrea) it was nice to be just us girls for once. We called Robin around ten and he was maaaaad. He and Andrea wanted to come down, but of course we didn't let them. That's life... ;) Hehe

Raquel, Ngoc, Yamila, me and Stina

First time I've ever seen someone drink beer with a straw!

The Swedes (Desirée, Maria and Stina)

The Swiss (Julia and Melanie)

I didn't have the best morning, though. I start 8.45 am on Fridays and I had forgotten to set my alarm last night, so I woke up 7.57 or something (I usually get up at 6.45!). I rushed to the bathroom, tried to contact Melanie to tell her I overslept and ran out the door with a pear in my hand. The great thing about it all is that I actually got to school on time! I was there at 8.44 and Mark ran a little late himself, so no harm done. The only reason why I got there so "fast" was extreme luck with the buses. But it wasn't a good start to the day and I don't like to have so little time in the morning. It makes me nervous, as Desirée so nicely puts it ;) (Love you, honey).

Now I'm looking forward to a quiet Saturday (unfortunately with some school work) and spending the day with my brother in London on Sunday :)

Sweet and sour

Today is a weird day, cuz I'm both happy and sad. Let's do the sad part first, then the happy. Better to end things on a good note ;)

Things did not go well this week in regards to football (Felicia, just keep reading... Not everything is about football this time ;) ). Arsenal lost 4-1 to Barcelona on Tuesday (6-3 on aggregate) and yesterday Manchester won 3-2, but went out of Champions League because of away goals. Bayern won the first leg 2-1, which means that the score was 4-4 on aggregate, but Bayern had two away goals, Manchester had only one. In my opinion, this is the worst way to go out, cuz we played so much better then them yesterday! So I'm blue...

My happiness is threefolded: I'm happy because it's Thursday, which means it's weekend tomorrow. My sisters duedate is in TWO weeks, so the baby could technically pop out any minute. And yesterday I found out that my brother is coming to London after all, and he's coming on Saturday. This means I'm going to see him on Sunday and that makes me very happy :D

Premier League, Champions League and Starbucks

Okey, so I guess most of you may not give a rats ass about football, and are thinking "Shut up, Irene!", but as I have metioned before, this is a very special and nerve-wracking season. When it comes to who will win (or who I would want to win) the title, I'm like this: ABC. Anyone But Chelsea! That's because I HATE Chelsea! Unfortunately they're now at the top of the league (74 points). There are five games left and because United lost to Chelsea yesterday (I just have to mention that Drogba's goal was offside and shouldn't have been allowed), United are now 1 point behind (73 points) Chelsea and Arsenal are two points behind us again (71 points). Arsenal won their game against Wolwerhampton in the 94th(!) minute, by a goal from Nicklas Bendter (from Denmark, by the way ;) Go Scandinavia!) I can now kind of understand how it was possible for them to go an entire season by just winning 1-0. Still pretty well done, I think.

(Stupid Blues...)
It was also Champions League this week, and that didn't go as planned either. United lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich, and have to win at Old Trafford on Wednesday to go through to the next round. With Rooney injured and out for approximately three weeks, it will be challenging. Luckily it is at Old Trafford, so hopefully that will help. I saw the Arsenal game against Barcelona with Ben, David and Daniel (hostbrothers), Gerry (hostfather) and Ben (buddy). That was quite the experience. Ben (buddy) actually left the room a few times becuase he was angry. Arsenal had a great fightback to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2. They now go to Camp Nou on Tuesday (without captain Cesc Fabregas, who played for Barcelona before he came to Arsenal at 16. He, unfortunately, got injured again and is not walking around on crutches) and have to put on an even better display then they did this week. Technically, they have to pick up where they left off.

(Ex-Barcelona can't go to Barcelona)

Other than football, there's not much happening. We are only five people in class, cuz most of my classmates are at their internships. I've been to a couple of Starbucks visits to catch up with some of them. It feel really good to have four days off and it feels even better to know that it's Sunday today, but I'm not going to school tomorrow!
